Monday Moves: Leah Naod
Our latest Monday Moves spotlight is Leah Naod. Fresh out of college, Leah embarked on a journey to kickstart her career in communications. Below, we unfold her story, from the search for the perfect agency that aligned with her values to landing a role as a Communications Coordinator at Colorcomm.
What was important to you in your next career move?
I was looking for a welcoming, cultivating space and a good company culture…those were a few of the main things I was looking for in my next career move. That can be difficult to find, but after speaking with Monday about ColorComm and hearing about what they do, I was thrilled to discover that our values aligned. Everyone I met was very warm, and to no surprise, I ended up being very happy with the team I worked with.
Were you having a hard time with your job search post-college?
Yes, I was definitely struggling to find a full-time job after graduation. These days, you have to be actively networking or already have plenty of connections in order to obtain a job, which is quite unrealistic for the average post-grad. Additionally, the job market in New York isn’t the easiest with the state we’re currently in and its competitive factors. This made things more challenging for me, as I knew I wanted my future job to be in the city, having lived here for the past two summers doing internships.
What have your previous experiences using a recruiter been like?
This was actually my first experience with a recruiter! I wasn’t exactly too familiar with how recruiting and staffing agencies worked. But after Silvana from Monday reached out, I better understood how recruiting worked.
What areas do you feel Monday supported you the most during the hiring process?
Silvana and the Monday team were really good about following up with me and being honest about the process. I really appreciated that and felt supported in all areas. I could tell from the start that Silvana was truly authentic and saw my strengths and skill sets, and wanted to help me apply them specifically to this role. She was very consistent in offering a helping hand and showed that she genuinely cared from beginning to end. Everyone at Monday deeply advocated for me and really wanted me to have this job locked in!
What are you most excited about in your new role?
Over anything, I’m excited to learn and be a sponge. Although I now have a degree that I’m able to put to good use, I still have a lot to learn as this is my first official job outside of college. Aside from that, I look forward to adding skills to the team that I’ve picked up from past work experiences, and even from college. It’s clear that everyone at ColorComm wants me to succeed, so I definitely know I have them to support and motivate me as I work to thrive in this role.
