The Benefits of Internships and Hands-On Experience

By Jake Beale

One thing that will remain constant throughout your life is that anyone that is looking to make a hire, is looking for someone with experience. Internships are the perfect opportunity to gain that experience.

An intern is defined as, “a student or trainee who works, sometimes without pay, at a trade or occupation to gain work experience.”

Internship Green Flags

Being an intern with Monday Talent has given me the opportunity to learn about an industry that I knew virtually nothing about. Unlike most internships that college students have, where interns are given mundane tasks, working at Monday Talent has given me the opportunity to gain real work experience.

I love to help out in any way I can, which is why this role has been perfect for me. I would say that the best way to describe my day-to-day at Monday Talent would be that I am there to help out the recruiters and full-time staff with anything that they need. This includes but isn’t limited to: writing job advertisements, writing client spiels, sourcing for candidates, doing research, and finally, making Tik Toks (@Cecelia). The thing that I love about this structure is how much I have been able to learn from everyone on the team. Getting the opportunity to actually work and collaborate with all of the different people on the Monday Talent team has taught me so much about the recruiting industry and just life in general. As a third-year college student, the ability to work directly with such a great group of people has been an invaluable experience.

Interns are Integrated into the Team

What has been amazing about being an intern with Monday Talent is that I haven’t been treated as an intern, I have been a part of the team since day one. This stands true in both the work environment and socially. When I initially joined the team in May 2021, I was welcomed with open arms. The amazing thing about Monday Talent is how willing everyone is to help one another. Throughout my time here, everyone that is a part of the team has made sure that they are always doing their best to include me on their calls and in whatever they are working on.

Working for Monday Talent has been an amazing experience that I cannot wait to continue. If I was going to provide one piece of advice for anyone reading this…

Take the risk that you have been thinking about taking, you never know where you will end up.
