Monday Motivation

What does the Monday team listen to to stay motivated throughout the week?

Cecelia, Communications & Creative Manager

Due to ADHD (lol) listening to music with words in it while I work can be quite a distraction. This being said, my mom shared a fabulous jazz playlist with me that I love to keep on as background noise while I work because silence is maybe even more distracting.

When I am doing less strenuous tasks such as content creation I love listening to Caamp, Giveon, and Billie Eilish. Nothing better than music that makes you feel something. Ask me again in a week though and I’m sure this list will change!

Gillian, Partner & Founder

Leon Bridges, all day, every day.

Leon’s soulful melodies keep me calm, cool, and collected (well maybe not that collected) throughout the day. While River will always be one of my all-time favorite songs, I can’t stop (won’t stop) listening to Beyond on repeat.

Gabriela, Talent Consultant

My two favorite podcasts at the moment are Small Doses with Amanda Seales and Armchair Expert. They keep me motivated because it's a mix of education and entertainment all in one. Since I work from home, it's a nice way to conveniently keep my mind active through the workday while I'm sourcing or answering emails.

Carly, Partner & Founder

I'm all about upbeat, high-intensity music to keep me going! Who says pump-up music can't also pump you up during your workday? My top two artists who really get my day going are Avicii (RIP) and Kygo.

Olivia, Talent Director

Because I work from home, creating the right ambiance is key to keeping me motivated and focused throughout the week. Lately, music from my favorite DJ trio, Above & Beyond, have been on replay as they provide chill vibes with moody beats. Their music allows me to craft important emails and source for new candidates without feeling distracted. If I don't have anything pressing that requires my full attention, I'll listen to an episode from one of my favorite podcasts Almost 30 or The Balanced Blonde. Both podcasts focus on all things wellness and spirituality. They're motivational to me because they both promote expanding your mind and digging deep to become the best version of you.

Jacqueline, Senior Consultant

Listening to podcasts has been my savior - I typically listen to music but find that it can be distracting during the workday. How I Built This keeps me motivated because they interview founders (think: Shake Shack, Bumble and Hinge) and it's inspiring to hear where successful CEOs got their start, or how a simple idea turns into a multimillion-dollar success story. I recently read Untamed by Glennon Doyle and became obsessed with her - she is rooted in empowerment and I've found her podcast to be very inspirational, especially since she features kickass female guests like Simone Biles and Luvvie Ajayi Jones.

Grecia, Researcher

I can always count on anything from Peggy Gou to keep me movin' through the week! Currently, the one I keep on repeat is “I Go.” The 90's house sounds of this song radiate nostalgic and uplifting energy- creating the perfect atmosphere for a hardworking space.

Tyler, Talent Consultant

When I am working I love listening to Billie Eilish (specifically the entire Happier Than Ever Album). I absolutely love her voice and this album allows me to focus on my work while also singing along.

I also love to listen to the Ladies and Tangents podcast either before or after work. The hosts are absolutely hysterical and it puts me in a good mood before jumping into my workday/ helps me wind down at the end of one.

Ruby, Talent Manager

My favorite podcast that I listen to every week is called "Do you F*****g Mind?"- Alexis Fernandez. She's a Neuroscientist who talks about all things to do with the brain but is funny as hell. eg. How habits can transform your life, constructing strong goals, how to kill procrastination, and take action.

This week my Spotify playlist has been Alex Newell Radio and I like listening to Discover Weekly.

Miller, Operations Manager

Artists that are keeping me sane at the moment:

Ari lennox and Durand Bernarr

Ari's music has such an elegant vibe that calms my anxiety when my overthinking is in overdrive lol. Durand’s vocal skills bring joy and excitement to my day. His musical personality makes me smile and instantly boosts my mood. Also the lip-syncing doesn't hurt either ;)

Khadijah, Executive Assistant

My favorite podcast to listen to is 99% Invisible with Roman Mars! He has such a great speaking voice, and I learn so much after every episode! It helps calm me down and distract me when I feel overwhelmed.

Aziza, Associate Talent Consultant

I listen to the podcast Up First every morning. It motivates me to stay up to date on current events and stay aware of what is going on in the world.

Jamie, CEO & Founder

Top Artist:

I've been listening to Primal Scream's Screamadelica on repeat since the turn of the year. It's an early 90s masterpiece - a time when I first started to appreciate music.

The record has all the things I need - guitars, acid-house beats, and even some gospel backing singers.

Top Podcast:

Groupchat - The number 1 podcast in the world, at least that's what they claim. This pod covers business, finance, music, fashion, and sports - through an LA lens. Which helps me being new to the area. The fact that two of my friends host it, means I am obligated to listen anyway.

Jake, Researcher

Recently I have been listening to a ton of Grateful Dead. Listening to the dead and hearing how jam bands change the songs for where they are performing and the way they are performed each night gives me a lot of creative motivation!

Jennifer, Talent Manager

I've been listening to a lot of Dan + Shay lately ... specifically "Good Things" from their new album. It has a really positive message and is inspiring to be the best person you can be (corny, I know haha) "when you think of me, I hope you think good things."

Another song that helps me stay motivated is "Kill the Lights" - Alex Newell, DJ Cassidy, and Jess Glynne.... this is more so focused on physical motivation because it's one of the songs that can actually get me running at the gym :)

Hibo, Talent Consultant

I've been listening to Jasmine Sullivan and the 1975. A podcast I just got into is "Celebrity Memoir Book Club."
